New York, New York, Is It Everything They Say?

I’ve been in a New York state of mind all week, obviously, so I’ll conclude this week’s blog love for Manhattan and New York City with a final photo dump, also from last Saturday. I have a gazillion other photos of New York from trips prior, but for those who’ve never been to New York, it’s a pilgrimage every American should make in his or her lifetime. Right down to the aromas, good and bad, hot dogs with real meat and a screechy hightail underground on the subway, New York, New York, is everything they say, to quote Huey Lewis and The News from back in 1983.

Next trip, I’ll be on the hunt for roads lesser traveled in NYC.

    • … God, it would be so perfect! Like, I’m not in New York (city of my birth, btw), and besides I have the perfect body type to look maximally awful in a t-shirt, so I couldn’t get away with actually wearing it. So I’d fold it up between my passengers’ seat and my own, and just, you know, casually flick it out and dangle it at the choice moment… 😄😆😂🤧

      • Wow, what part of town were you born? I can just picture that random shirt flick out the window!!! I will say if you’re a tourist, you don’t get much flack unless you’re holding up traffic or you don’t have a clue what you’re doing. At least in most parts of Midtown, tips speak the universal language of NY, LOL!!

      • Oh, “don’t have a clue what I’m doing,” I pretty much find, covers a manifold multitude of my million shortcomings.

For the rest, I generally go with being a poet as an all-purpose excuse, as in, “So sorry! I was free-associating!…”

  1. New York is an amazing place to visit. So much to see and such an ambiance. It is the city of all cities. A big wow! However, being someone who grew up on the north Swedish country side it would be too overwhelming for me to live in such a place. Visiting for a week or two though, is great.

    • Now I would love to come see the beautiful country of Sweden sometime and hopefully that comes to fruition. New York is definitely overwhelming if you’re not used to it, but it’s carries and transfers its own power to those willing to receive it. Living there, you need to be of stern stuff and a well-paying job, lol.

  2. The only time I’ve ever been in New York I was still rather new to the planet and Huey and his friends didn’t even bring out that song as yet… I love your photos, hope you bought one of the t-shirts, and got free pizza😁…
