Along came something outrageous from those magnificent bastards at Yards Brewery in Philadelphia, mashing their Philthy IPA formula with a peach puree. After a long disdain for IPA, I am slowly coming along to them as American breweries keep tinkering and smoothing out the bitterness. This includes Yards’ deliciously hazy Level Up, but yo, the Philthy Peach? Talk about smooth. As you can see, even the gods and goddesses want in on this action, literally knocking me upside the head for a change-up from stouts, porters and bocks for their offering…

I love a good hoppy beer, but to me hops should be more about flavor than about bitterness if you do it right!

PRECISELY! I think the IPA revolution is beginning to take note if they want to sway other beer lovers, they have to mingle body and flavor instead of just zapping it.

I’m not so much a fan of fruity beer (maybe I’m being snooty) – but every once in a while I give one a try and am happily surprised! Peach though! Interesting.

Me neither, honestly. I prefer darks and ambers the most, but man, is this good stuff.

One of these days I’ll get to the Yards brewpub on Spring Garden Street. Two weeks ago I went for the first time to the Victory brewpub near 18th Street.
