Ha! Someone even slipped as DAT into the mix. Haven’t seen those in several forevers…

Right? God, it’s fun to look at this. I hate cassettes as much as I love them and can’t believe what people are asking for them out there. On the one hand, I lost so many great albums to gnarled and split tapes. On the other hand, the mix-tape came with responsibility. It said who you were and also showed what kind of romantic or non you were, lol. I tell my kid, who hunts for songs online and at TikTok to express his feelings for his girl and I said, “Dude, in our day, you had to come up with an entire TAPE to do that, and it was critical you got the right tunes and the right sequence to make your statement.”

I was a teenage mixtape DJ. Not just for the girls I liked, either. From what I hear, people still talk about them. LOL.
And, sometimes, you wanted to get across the point that you just wanted to be friends, not date. One mixtape had Cure’s “I’m cold” and “It’s Not You” on BOTH sides of the 90 minute cassette. Accidentally, ahem, of course.
Fun times.

Oh look, it’s my car when I pick up my little attache case full of cassettes without making sure it’s latched first.

BWAHAHAHAHA! Been there, including having my attache case of cassettes stolen out of my car, then recovered from someone I knew in high school and shredded her as a thief…only to realize someone else had done the dirty deed. She gave them up, and still I felt like crap railing her.
